HOME FURNISHING
ASSIGNMENT
Ø Robert is 55 years, lives alone and will be
undergoing a knee replacement surgery next month. He will be unable to exert
any form of pressure on his knees for the next five months after the surgery
and will be unable to climb stairs for an additional three months. Robert wants to modify parts of his
two-story home in preparation for his rehabilitation but does not have a large
budget. He has hired you as the expert, explain four modifications you will
suggest for this client, keeping in mind his limited budget and time.
Ø Select a color scheme and create a mood board
with twelve (12) images that depict your chosen color scheme. The images must
comprise design items such as furnishings, textiles, accessories and/or paint
chips.
Ø Your client’s kitchen has large windows on
three sides. She loves all the natural light, but knows that wide windows can
make glare overwhelming in the morning and evening. She wants a treatment that
can easily be used during the day to block glare while still letting in plenty
of light. Because the kitchen has so many windows and she will be adjusting the
treatments so frequently, she wants something that will be very simple to use.
Privacy is not a concern in this part of the house.
i.
What
style(s) of window treatment will you recommend? Be specific.
ii.
How will
your proposed treatment suit the client’s needs? Discuss function as well as
style.
